Following the devastating floods across the UK in 2007, New Level Safety were approached by Chartered Surveyors and Loss Adjusters to support their businesses in the role of CDM Coordinator.

We initially developed a flood paper which incorporated the unique hazards associated with wide spread flooding, including Weil’s Disease, Raw Sewage, unsafe adjacent properties / boundary walls, and the inevitable increased risk of violence.

Whilst residential properties fall outside the requirements of CDM, both the Surveyors and Loss Adjusters required control from the outset to ensure all works were both managed and controlled. The control and management structure of the CDM process was ideal for this purpose.

As a result of our advice and guidance we have since been retained to provide continued support in the role of CDMC and develop standardised reporting and checking procedures thereby making it easier for the client to compare one job against another in terms of health and safety performance.

Our bespoke and open approach to this work has also resulted in NLS beening appointed by a number of approved Principal Contractors to develop their respective Construction Phase Health & Safety Plans along similar lines.
